One of the first recipes I ever shared here was my keto beer bread. It is absolutely delicious. The beer gives the bread a yeasty flavor and helps to cover up the eggy flavor that is typical of homemade keto bread.

A few weeks ago I was baking up a fresh batch of that old beer bread and had a thought. Why not add some cheese and bacon to the batter? I'm not sure if those thoughts are typical of most people, but I've been doing keto long enough that that's basically a daily thought for me.

Anyway, you already know where this story leads. I made the bread, added the cheese and bacon and it was amazing. As if there was any doubt really 🤣

    Is beer keto-friendly?

Yes and no. Pretty much everything is keto-friendly if you stick to the proper portion. While traditional beer has about 13 grams of carbs for a traditional can, there are several low carb beers on the market with carbs as low as 2 grams for a 12oz serving.

You can check out this list of the best low carb beer options for some ideas and more detailed descriptions of all your options.

With all that said, if you are opposed to using beer you can substitute it for any carbonated liquid that you are comfortable using.

    How to store leftover bread

Due to the cheese and bacon, I recommend storing this bread in the refrigerator. It should keep for up to 5 days, and can even be frozen for up two six months!

Make sure that you store this bread in a tightly sealed container to prevent it from drying out. I like to pre-slice it and then freeze it so that I can pull out a single slice whenever the mood strikes!

To increase bacon flavor could you use room temperature bacon grease (or part) in place of / along with the butter?
